Brazil: TCS wants to render long distance services.
South American Business Information, October, 1999
The fixed telephones holding TCS (Tele Centro Sul) is seeking to become a provider of national and international long distance calls, despite the opposition made by the telecoms agency Anatel, regarding this issue. TCS was encouraged in its plea by the lack of decision from Anatel on the merge of MCI and Sprint, that will lay in the hands of MCI not only the carrier Embratel as its competitors Intelig, that will soon start operations. TCS argues a monopolistic situation has been created, and until is resolved, other companies would be legally allowed to render long distance services.
