Brazil: Renault launches popular car.

Renault will launch its popular car model Clio into the Brazilian market within the next days. The car maker aims to hold 3% of the national popular cars sales and 5% of the global cars market until the

of the year 2000, reaching 10% of the global market until 2005. In order to achieve a 3% share of the popular cars market, the company will have to sell 35,000 Clio cars over the period. Renault will reach a chain of 100 resellers in Brazil next December. Some 70% of Clio's parts will be produced in Brazil, initially, reaching 85% within the next months. Most of Clio's stampings will be supplied by Parana-based Thera, a joint venture between the Rhea group and Gestamp. Renault predicts to sell a total of nearly 35,000 cars in Brazil this year,...
