Brazil: Compaq offers free computers to grow e-commerce.

Compaq will launch next week a new promotion so as to grow small and medium-sized companies' e-commerce in Brazil. The company's promotion will be developed along with the Web portal OneClick and the computer stores chain Net Box. They will offer free Presario 5423 computers for customers that use the OneClick Store Professional software to createvirtual stores. Besides, the promotion will include 1-year free Internet access and a link to ZAZ's virtual shopping, which has 700,000 daily hits. The promotion will be due end December, 1999, but may be relaunched next year according to market response. Some 1,000 firms are to be attracted by the promotion.
