Argentina: Nortel to fund Impsat's optical fiber network.

Nortel Networks signed an agreement with Impsat by which it will fund over the long term the US$149mil investments needed to set up an optical fibers network tapping the main cities in Brazil and Argentina, part of a project to cast a network throughout Latin America. Impsat is a leading company in the data communications market in Latin America, and wants to reinforce operations through a wholly owned - managed optical network facility based on technology IP/ATM, DWDM, and zero dispersion optical fiber. Currently it renders services to 1,500 corporations, government institutions, wholesalers, ISP, and other companies in the region.
