Peru: AT&T focus in the corporate segment.

AT&T Latinoamerican announced plans to invest US$200mil to develop its operations in Peru, mainly to expand the optical fibers network andswitching centers, and also for local and long distance telephone services, and to the Internet corporate network. AT&F focus in the domestic corporate communications business estimated at US$800mil - US$1bil. Its subsidiary FirstCom has been granted from the Peruvian government licenses to operate fixed and long distance telephone services, that will be passed to AT&T. The company is actively negotiating with the telecoms major Telefonica the interconnection costs, considered high to make feasible join operations.
