Brazil: Enron to provide energy solutions.

After having invested US$2bil in Brazil, Enron will now focus on its core business, which is to provide electric power energy solutions to final consumers, although the company does not discard future acquisitions. It has not decided yet whether it will bid for the natural gas distribution concession in the southern region of Sao Paulo. Enron aims to generate some 900 MW in Brazil, of which 50% to be produced by the thrmoelectric plant that will be built in Rio de Janeiro. The company plans to center its South American operations in Brazil, except for Colombia and Venezuela, which are managed by the Caribbean division. Enron holds a 100% stake in the Mato Grosso power company Termeletrica de Cuiaba, 25% in the Transredes gas pipeline, 35% in the TGS gas...
