Brazil: Fiat to resume profits in 2001.

Fiat, which presently holds 27.8% of the national market, aims to resume generating profits in Brazil as of 2001. The car maker reported losses of R$10.7mil last year and forecasts a similar figure for this year. It plans to launch new cars into the domestic market next year. Fiat's Fire engines producing plant will start up until the end of this year. The car maker's 1998 exports amounted to US$1bil. It held 27.6% of the national cars market last year.
