Brazil: Petrobras to increase fuel supply this month.

South American Business Information, December, 1999

Brazil: Petrobras will increase its fuel supply to service stations during this month in order to avoid possible problems caused by a sales boom because of consumers' fear of the Y2K bug. Petrobras predicts that the gasoline consumption will increase 10% within the last weeks of this year, but Esso and Texaco discarded any sales growth. Petrobras's subsidiary BR Distribuidora, Esso and Texaco are ready for the Y2k bug, while Ipiranga is finishing the last tests. Ipiranga invested nearlyR$1.7mil in information technology to avoid problems caused by the Y2K bug.
