Brazil: CRT selling off process to be readied this week.

This Wednesday the fixed telephone company Telefonica, will publish the invitation to the auction of its shares in CRT (Companhia Riograndense de Telecomunica=E7=F5es), the fixed telephone company that operates inthe State of Rio Grande do Sul. The transaction shall cost more than RS$2bil. Telefonica has until February 4 to sell its participation inCRT. The company controls Telesp, the Sao Paulo fixed telephone operator, and has 85.16% of the Tele Brasil Sul shares, company that control CRT, what is not permitted by the general grant plan for the telecommunications industry.
