South American Business Information, February, 2000
Citibank informed yesterday that it is interested in acquiring Santander's portfolio in Chile. Banco Santander agreed to sell it due to the Chilean government's pressure to reduce BSCH's market share. Citibank aims to double its market share in the higher social classes to 32%, lifting its overall market share to 3% or 4%. It presently has 100,000 clients and aims to double that to 200,000 ones within the next 3 years
