Brazil: ABB Alstom to centralize equipment production in Taubate.

Brazil: ABB Alstom Power is building an industrial complex in Taubate, State of Sao Paulo, where it will centralize the production of powerenergy generating equipment. The new facility will be inaugurated next September. The company will invest US$15mil during this year to transfer to the new plant the production of the Osasco (Sao Paulo) and Cravinhos (countryside city of Sao Paulo) plants. ABB Alstom invested US$25mil between 1998 and 1999 in the modernization and expansion of the Taubate facility. The existing Taubate plant posted a turnover of US$160mil last year, being predicted to generate sales of US$250mil this year. ABB Alstom has recently signed a US$750mil contract to supply eleven 400-MW equipment for the Tucurui power plant.
