Alliant plans new acquisitions in Brazil.

In the beginning of this year, Alliant Energy acquired a 45.6% stake in power company Energisa for US$347mil - the Brazilian company is controlled by Cataguazes Leopoldina (CFLCL), which has recently acquired 2 small power plants in Minas Gerais through the Catleo Energia subsidiary. Alliant is prepared to invest US$300mil in Brazil over the next 5 years so as to acquire other power companies - the company's targets are Cemar (Maranhao), Saelpa (Paraiba), Ceal (Alagoas) and Cepisa (Piaui). Alliant will take part in the construction of Petrobras' 100-MW, US$100mil-worth thermoelectric plant in Aracaju, State of Sergipe.
