Brazil: LG increases production and market share.

LG, which has already invested US$130mil in Brazil, presently produces nearly 200,000 television sets and computer monitors per month in thecountry, up from the 60,000 monthly units produced previously. The company posted a turnover of R$650mil last year, up from R$252mil in 1998. It forecasts sales of nearly R$1bil for this year, of which 40% to be generated by the consumer electronics segment, 30% by computer monitors and 20% by cellular phones. The company invests R$10mil per year in marketing. It increased its share of the national television sets market from 3% in 1998 to 6.5% in 1999, reaching 10% in the first 2 months of this year.
