Brazil: Telecoms reinforce Internet data centers.

Telefonica, Embratel, Matrix, PSINet, Hewlett Packard, and OptiGlobe will create Internet data centers to keep information. OptiGlobe will invest US$160mil, and will open its first data center in Sao Paulo, in the second half (Jul-Dec) of 2000. In order to be one of the maintelecommunication facilities suppliers, the company will render Internet hosting service, international connection, and information management. Telemar will invest R$300mil in its Internet data center, increasing to R$700mil the investments in the web this year. PSINet will invest R$60mil in data centers in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, and Sao Paulo.
