Brazil : Embratel and Santander raise US$250mil.

Until June 2000 the Brazilian companies will have raised US$1.8856bil in the international money market. Telecommunications company Embratel raised US$150mil, and the commercial bank Santander Brasil otherUS$100mil in the international money market. Also Sao Paulo state water company Sabesp raised a US$200mil, while the Brazilian development bank BNDES (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social) others US$300mil in the international money market. According to the companies the major part of the resources are destinated to expasion programmes. Meanwhile CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) is to raise US$4mil in the international money market through the issue of ADR (American Depositary Receipt)
