The good performance of automotive, and civil construction sectors boosted the sale of iron and steel sector. CSN (Companhia Siderurgica Nacional) announced R$146.3mil in profits for 2000 first half of the fiscal period (Jan - June), with a 21,6% growth on its sales in domestic market, that represents 75% of the overall sales. Domestic market absorbed 1.6mil m tons of steel, surpassing the record reached in 1997 first half. It will account for 81% of its net earnings, to reach R$1.7bil in 2000 year, versus R$1.3bil from 1999's performance. According to its director Mr Marcos Treiger CSN's overall sales in 2000 first half reached 2.2mil m tons, a 1% growth compared with 1999. CSN invested R$180.5mil in 2000 year, being R$60.5mil destinated for thermal electric facility...
