Brazil : Lucent and Eletronet to install optical fibers.

Lucent Technologies and Eletronet entered a contract estimated at US$180mil. The plan is to install 22km of optical fibers network over the next two years. It is an advanced intelligent network, based in tecnologies as DWDM and SDH, with capacity to transmit 400 gigabits per second. The work will benefit 94% of the Brazilian population, and will reach the states of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Goias, Maranhao, Ceara, and Distrito Federal in the first stage.
