Brazil: DaimlerChrysler sets up turbines shop in the country.

South American Business Information, November, 2000

The penetration of Airbus in the fleets of Latin American air transportation companies, a market led by Boeing, is attracting new investments to Brazil. DaimlerChrysler installed the turbines shop MTU in Campinas (Sao Paulo) by early October and is already evaluating whereto construct a maintenance division in the country. This is the sole industrial park held by the company in the Latin American market. MTU executed a maintenance contract for TAM" fleet for 15 years. The deal is estimated at US$570mil for the maintenance of 38 Airbus ordered by the company and its 50 Fokker. MTU expects a turnover of US$100mil including the render of services to other air transportation companies.
