Brazil: Siemens invests US$700mil.

Siemens do Brasil is to invest US$700mil in the development and production of equipment for the mobile communication bands C, D and E. The GSM technology, to be used by the winners is already developed bySiemens " main office. The resources will be invested during four years including the development of platforms to the second and third generations. The radio stations are already being produced in Curitiba-based plant (Parana) and the devices will be produced in Manaus. Currently Siemens supplies 1% of the mobile communication equipment in Brazil and in the exchange sector it holds 40% of the domestic market. It holds 45% stake in the devices market.
