Brazil : Enron receives proposals for Gaspart.

Enron (US) received three proposals for its subsidiary Gaspart, which has participation in eight gas distribution companies in the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina, Parana, Bahia, Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambucoand Paraiba. The proposals came from Perez Companc (Argentina), TotalFinaElf (France) and a consortium teamed by the Iberdrola (Spain) and Tractebel (Belgium). In addition, the Brazilian oil and gas company Petrobras has plans to acquire 25% participation Gaspart has in Rio de Janeiro state gas distribution company CEG (Companhia Distribuidora de Gas do Rio de Janeiro). Also Enron is facing difficulties to sell Elektro, based at Mato Grosso do Sul state. The company was acquired in 1998 for R$1.479bil. Enron expects to sell it for R$1.8bil minimum price.
