Brazil: Embratel" optical fiber network to reach Campos.

The Brazilian telecoms carrier Embratel is to expand its optical fiber network to Macae and Campos (Rio de Janeiro) aiming to provide services to the gas and oil companies installed in the region. The company aimsto capitalize its optical network inside Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area in 2001. Embratel holds a total of 11 metropolitan optical rings. Currently its optical fiber network has 30,000 km from which 2,000 installed in 2000.
