Brazil: Telecom Italia will pay cash for Band D mobile concession.

Telecom Italia will pay next Monday R$1.54bil cash ralated to the winning bids submitted by the company for the II and III areas at the band D mobile telephony auction. In case Telemar, which won concession for area I, also pays cash, the Brazilian government will receive revenues of R$2.642bil early next week. Telecom Italia will be offered a 30% discount for giving back the concessions related to the states of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, where the company already provides cellular telephony services (Band A) through Tele Celular Sul (TIM Celular Sul).
