Brazil: John Deere to produce farm machinery cabs in the country.

SLC-John Deere is to start the production of harvesting machinery cabs, currently imported from Argentina, in its Horizontina-based unit (Rio Grande do Sul). The move is part of the company" strategy to expand the nationalization level of the components used in its farm machineries, which foresees a jump of 72% to 90% in the harvesting machinery. Over the next two years, the tractors line might jump fro 50% to 80%. The company will also produce cotton harvesting machinery in Cameco based on Catalao (Goais) which currently produces sugar cane harvesting machinery. SLC John Deere is reponsible for 1/3 of the annual sales of harvesting machinery (120 units) in the Brazilian market. Th company has been investing US$20mil per year since 1998. In...
