Mexico: Televisa and TV Azteca to call on Uncle Sam.

Televisa and TV Azteca will be spurred on by NBC's purchase of Telemundo. The two Mexican TV channels have been trying to grow their role in the US Hispanic audience market for some time. They provide content at present but Telemundo has a 15% share of a market boasting advertising interests of almost US$2bil. Televisa has 73% of the Mexican market and had considered buying Telemundo in association with other sector players from the US. It will now hope that NBC, in need of programming, offers it a stake in Telemundo in return for programming although, due to the former's deal with Univision running to 2017, it would only be able to sell Telemundo shows Univision did not want.
