Telesp Celular reduce its debt to R$3.35bil.

The Brazilian mobile phone operator Telesp Celular, controlled by the Portuguese group PT (Portugal Telecom), accounted for 34,7% of the total Ebitda registered by PT over the Jan-Jun 2002 period. Telesp Celular expanded its Ebitda margin from 23,3% over 2001 to 40,1% this year. PT had 41,23% of Telesp Celular capital by June 2002. But the group increased its stake and currently owns 65,1% of the company due to a capital increase. The capital increase amounted to R$2.403bil and allowed Telesp Celular to reduce its debt from R$5.75bil to R$3.35bil.
