The Brazilian mobile telephone services Oi (owned by Telemar) is advancing to October 2002 the goal established for December 2002, of reaching 500,000 subscribers. Over the past two months, the company conquered 350,000 subscribers, 70% of which from other operators. TIM was recently authorized by Anatel to operate the bands D and E in Brazil, which will allow Oi's GSM roaming in the whole country, improving its businesses (mainly in the corporate market). For this segment, Oi bets on GPRS technology, which allows a high-speed data transmission.
