ABB to enter into Brazilian wind power segment.

The Swedish/Swiss group ABB is to enter into the Brazilian wind power energy sector in 2003. The multinational aims to expand operations, by selling energy distribution and transmission equipment to the domestic plants. ABB said the Brazilian wind power energy sector counts on one supplier, the subsidiary of the German Wobben Windpower. It registered R$1bil turnover in 2002 in Brazil, aiming to reach R$1.5bil. Meanwhile, Brazil currently produces 22MW of energy. The national electric power agency Aneel has authorized 6,000MW, which amounts to 80 new projects.
