Vina Concha y Toro reports 47% increase in profits.

Vina Concha y Toro, the Chilean wine producer, which is owned by the Guilisasti family, reported profits of Pesos$4,242mil in the first quarter of 2003, a 46.7% increase on profits of Pesos$2,891mil in the same period in 2002. Consolidated sales rose by 30.4% to Pesos$32,331mil, helped increasing demand in Chile and Argentina. Operating profits rose by 38.6% to Pesos$4,722mil from Pesos$3,407mil. Non-operating profits increased by 1,304% from Pesos$25mil to Pesos$351mil. Exports increased by 19.5%, especially to Europe and the US. Domestic sales increased by 23% in terms of volume. Vina Trivento, the company's Argentinean subsidiary, reported a 187% rise in overall sales.
