DekaBank enters Chilean corporate and mutual fund markets.

DekaBank, the German bank, has decided to expand operations into the Chilean corporate and mutual fund markets. The bank will open credit lines to large companies and will allocate funds to refinance local banks. It will also provide mutual funds services to individual customers. According to Roberto Cifuentes, chairman of Latinus, the bank's exclusive representative for Latin America, the bank, which currently has US$70mil worth of assets in Chile, decided to diversify and expand operations in Chile after the signing of a trade agreement between the country and the European Union (EU).
