Petrochemicals industry moves R$2bil through the Internet.

The Brazilian chemicals industry expects R$2bil e-commerce and B2B operations this year and R$2.3bil in 2004. Assa, consultancy company, surveyed 12 companies in the sector as 3M, Basf, Braskem, Carbono Quimica, Clariant, Dow, DuPont, Elekeiroz, Rhodia, Rohm and Haas and White Martins, who are jointly responsible for the R$2bil or 25% over the R$8bil they spent with purchase and sale. Braskem had a significant participation on the survey since it moved R$945mil in 2002, 15% of the R$6.3bil gross turnover. The company' total sales amounted to R$8.8bil last year and for 2003 it aims 25% total income tied to the e-commerce, reaching 60% in 2004.
