CVRD invests in environmental education.

The Brazilian mining company CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) received the prize Premio CNI 2003, in the environmental education category, with the program Vale Ambiente, developed in the mines based in Minas Gerais. The program, launched in 2001, benefits 12 communities in the state, through investments of nearly R$1.5mil. In 2004, CVRD will extend the program to other two cities in Minas Gerais, Congonhas do Campo and Brumadinho, besides providing resources of R$500,000 to the measure.
