CVRD to transport Maeda's cotton.

Encouraged by the good performance of the cotton crop in Brazil, the Brazilian mining company CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) partnered with Maeda group, one of the main cotton producers in the country, to take over the transportation of the product to the ports of Santos (Sao Paulo) and Vitoria (Espirito Santo). All the cotton will be transported from CVRD's warehouse based in Uberlandia (Minas Gerais). The company expects to transport 60,000 m tons of the fiber in 2004, against 12,000 m tons posted this year. With the predicted growth in the Brazilian cotton production - estimated in 1mil m tons over the 2003/2004 crop - the domestic producers might export between 300,000 and 400,000 m tons as of 2004....
