The parent company of Tower Records, the US music and entertainment retailer, yesterday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in an attempt to restructure its debt. The company's Argentinean subsidiary has said that the move will not affect the local operations and that the company will continue to invest in new outlets in the country. The company has recently opened two new outlets in Cordoba and Puerto Madryn and is planning to open another one in La Plata in April 2004. It also operates three outlets in Buenos Aires.
