AES Gener accepts to buy back Yankee bonds.

AES Gener, the Chilean electricity generation subsidiary of AES Corp, the US energy group, yesterday said in a statement that it has decided to buy back US$145.2mil worth of Yankee bonds (72.62% of the total amount outstanding). It has also said that it has obtained the necessary consents from bondholders make some amendments to the rules governing bonds within the few days. The company has also announced that it has reached an agreement to restructure the debt of its Argentinean subsidiaries TermoAndes and InterAndes.
