E&J Gallo Winery targets Chile.

Representatives of E&J Gallo Winery, the US leading wine producer, with an annual turnover of US$1,000mil and a 2% share in the global wine market, will arrive in Chile in March 2004 to analyze local business opportunities. The company has said it intends to benefit from the implementation of the free trade deal between Chile and the US and low production costs in Chile, among other factors. It is not the first time that the US group shows interests in the Chilean market. In the mid-1990's, E&J Gallo made an unsuccessful offer for the exporting business of Vina San Pedro, the winery owned by Chilean group Luksic. Chilean wine exports totaled 403 million liters (US$681mil) in 2003, an increase of 13% over 2002....
