CVRD sells Sossego's copper.

The Brazilian mining company CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) has signed contracts for the sale of concentrated copper from the Sossego mine in Carajas (Para state) which predicts a production of 140,000 m tons of copper. Vale will export the first order in June. It plans to start operations in the Projeto 118 mine, which will have a capacity of 45,000 m tons per year of copper cathode. Vale manages the Alemao, Salobo and Cristalino mines as well. It has partnerships with Antofagasta in Peru.
