CVRD acquires stake in Yongcheng.

The j.v. firmed last week between the Brazilian mining company CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) in the coal mining area includes the acquisition of assets of the Chinese mining company Yongcheng (Yongcheng Coal & Electricity Group). According to a source of the company, Vale would remain with 25% of two mines owned by Yongcheng - one of the world largest producer of coal. However the plans of the Brazilian company are even more ambitious. The source does not discloses the amount of the deal but reveals the total investment in both deal total US$300mil. Besides the j.v. entered with Yongcheng, Vale signed a deal with Boasteel (Shangai Boasteel Group Corporation) - largest steel manufacturer of China....
