Vale logistic division turns over R$332mil in Q1 2004.

The Brazilian CVRD (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) had a turnover of R$2.134bil in the logistic segment in 2003 and predicts a growth of 11% this year. In the first quarter of 2004 (Jan-March) the segment represented 12% of the company income, with R$332mil. The container handling should increase by 25% this year. The other area that pushes Vale growth is the agriculture. The transportation of farm products boomed 50% in the first quarter of the year. Vale railroads transported 1mil m tons of sugar - four times up the registered in 2003. The company is to order 6,000 wagons until 2008.
