Cinemex cinemas chain sold for US$1.5bil.

The motion picture theaters chain Grupo Cinemex, controlled by Onex Corp and Oaktree Capital Management, and Loews Cineplex Entertainment, have announced it has been sold to Bain Capital, The Carlyle Group, and Spectrum Equity. The US$1.5bil deal includes other assets of Loews throughout the world. Cinemex, with 392 screens into 35 multiplex cinemas, is the 2nd largest cinemas chain in Mexico and has an aggressive plan to expand to Monterrey, Guadalajara and other cities.
