Telmex increases competition.

Under the management of the Mexican telecommunication company Telmex, BCP, Embratel and Net may increase the competition with Telefonica, Telemar and Brasil Telecom for the long distance call, fixed phone and voice over IP markets. The fixed phone operator Telefonica and the long distance call operator Embratel launched products targeted at lower income consumers last week. Market analysts believe that the competition may increase more if Telmex starts to render voice over IP technology, targeted at the corporate market, through the network of the subscription TV company Net. Embratel may render integrated services through synergies with the mobile phone operator Claro and Net.
