Brazil: Foreign airline companies expand in Brazil.

If compared to Brazilian airline companies, foreign airlines transported further 1.1mil passengers in 2003 concerning flights from Brazil to international routes. Those companies already account for 57% of this market while the domestic groups accounted for the remaining 43%. In 1998, Brazilian companies - Vasp, Varig, TAM and Transbrasil - owned a 53% market share. The main group Varig decreased from 39% in 2001 to 35% in 2003. TAM, which entered the international flight market in 1998, currently offers flights to Miami and Paris in partnership with American Airlines and Air France.
