Cristalerias de Chile, the Chilean glass container manufacturer, has filed an environmental impact study with SEIA, the Chilean environmental impact assessment system, for the construction of a new plant in Llay-Llay, in the province of San Felipe. The three-phase project involves investments of US$210mil. The investment is aimed at helping the company to meet rising domestic demand for high-quality glass containers. Part of the production will be exported through the local wine industry. The project involves three furnaces with a combined production capacity of 1,200 m tons per day. The new plant is expected to reach full capacity in 2012.
