The Brazilian and fixed mobile phone operators Telefonica, Vivo, Embratel, Claro, Brasil Telecom, Intelig and GVT are focusing on convergent services. Brasil Telecom and Brasil Telecom GSM, which is entering the mobile phone market, will offer integrated services like the prepaid hybrid card, which can be used in mobile and fixed phones. According to the vice-chairman of strategy and businesses of Brasil Telecom, Mr. Valdir Morgado, the company is strengthening operations in the international and domestic voice and data service markets with the acquisition of assets like Metrorede and Globenet.
