Manuel Terrero, manager of the wired networks business of Nortel in Latin American and the Caribbean, predicts an increasing competitiveness of Telmex and Telefonica Moviles in Mexico. Nextel is developing an IP network to Axtel, enabling it to offer local and long distance services from end 2004 onwards, in markets where it has not a local presence as Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez. Terrero does not discard to replicate in Latin America contracts such as the one signed with BRT TV in Chile, to offer voice services via cable television to 400,000 users.
