TSX Review: Index Weakens.

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) closed out Thursday's session slightly lower as negative economic news out of the US over the course of the week has continued to put a damper on the markets.

Higher than expected US jobless claims Thursday morning were the latest poor US economic news to hit the street. Later Thursday, US Treasury Secretary John Snow said the problems facing the US economy right now go deeper than the war in Iraq. He said the underlying weakness in the US economy is a continuing issue that may lead the US back into recession.

US and Canadian employment reports for March are due Friday.
