HELICOPTER INQUIRY DEMANDED 
 
     Ottawa   Political and industry critics are demanding an 
investigation into Ottawa's bid to purchase C$3 billion worth of 
helicopters after allegations by a senior Canadian Forces officer 
of political interference in the process. 

A helicopter company is calling on the Auditor-General to immediately probe Ottawa's bidding process for the new naval helicopters for any administrative irregularities in light of the accusations.

A document written by Colonel Brian Akitt and revealed by The Globe and Mail accused the federal government of putting politics ahead of safety in its bid to replace its fleet of Sea Kings.
