OTTAWA OFFERS C$1.5 BILLION IN LOAN GUARANTEES TO BOMBARDIER
Ottawa - The federal government is offering Bombardier up to $1.5 billion in loan guarantees to support the sale of as many as 45 regional passenger jets to Air Canada.
The financial backing for Montreal-based Bombardier is coming from Industry Canada and designed to help the aerospace giant compete in a tight international market.
Last month, as it emerged from bankruptcy protection, Air Canada - also based in Montreal - announced it intended to buy at least 30 Bombardier regional jets worth at least $821 million US.
