ACE TO SPIN OUT MINORITY STAKE IN AIR CANADA

MONTREAL - Investors may soon be able to buy shares again directly in Air Canada, which emerged from bankruptcy-court protection about two years ago.

Canada's largest airline and parent firm ACE Aviation Holdings Inc. (TSX:ACE.B) announced Monday the filing of a preliminary prospectus for $200-million initial public offering of a minority stake in Air Canada.

But Air Canada also said it will record a special charge of $102 million in the third quarter for old Aeroplan liabilities (TSX:AER.UN)....
