SALO, CANUCKS SINK WILD IN OVERTIME

Unwilling to share second in the NHL Northwest Division, the Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild engaged in a see-saw battle for a share of first place.

Sami Salo scored with 40 seconds remaining in overtime as the visiting Canucks defeated the Wild 3-2 before a crowd of 18,568 at the Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday.

Vancouver is 8-1 in OT this season.

Salo potted the decisive goal on a 2-on-1 break, settling Matt Cooke's centring pass and beating Niklas Backstrom high to the stick side with a backhand deke.
