Winnipeg, MB, Mar 07, 2007 (Resource News International via COMTEX) -- The Canadian dollar was slightly weaker midday Wednesday in relatively quiet trade, as the currency was thought to be consolidating after its recent price swings.

The Canadian dollar was trading at 84.79 US cents (C$1.1794) at 1135 CDT (1735 GMT), which compares with 84.89 US cents (C$1.1783) early in the day, and Tuesday's North American closing level of 85.00 US cents (C$1.1765).

The global equity and commodity markets were showing some stability on Wednesday, as the recent volatility in the markets had participants moving to the sidelines to assess the situation.
